    The Academy
    Dublin
    Wed 14 Oct 2009, 19:00.

After seeing him at oxegen, pretty excited about seeing him play his own gig.

Just hope he's as on form as he was in Kildare.

Any insults or foolish comments about the artist/name calling/ general unstructured arguments or comments = ban.

Brilliant, about time he played solo here.

When do these go on sale?

Must say, he was fúcking awesome at Oxegen playing by himself. Would like to see this. Only bad thing he did was he didnt appreciate the crowd tbh

Yeah I saw him at oxegen too he can do so much with just a guitar and his voice, and no backing band. Anyone know how much the tickets are ?

also enjoyed his oxegen set, was stuck between him and yeah yeah yeahs but the pelting rain decided for me! I presume he'll have a band at these gigs? the one in galway will be free, the heinken green spheres thing

Pete Doherty follows his well-received Oxegen performance with visits to Mandela Hall, Belfast (October 13); The Academy, Dublin (14); and Roisin Dubh, Galway (15) as part of Heineken Green Spheres.

Tickets for The Academy go on sale on Wednesday July 22 priced €26.50. As for Galway, you'll be able to apply online at www.heinekengreenspheres.ie for free tickets in early September.

    Sold out now in dublin

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 661 ✭✭✭fend

    Are these tickets sold out?
Been trying to get them on ticketmaster.ie but its just giving me an error message every time. Been trying for over a week now.
They'd usually say "Sold out" if it was right?

Havnt had a chance to get into one of their outlets, and probably wont get in there til after the weekend.

Any one know if theyre sold out or whats the story??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 661 ✭✭✭fend

Ahhhh desperately looking for a pair and its seems they're like golddust!
Really didnt think this one would sell out!!

yeah oxegen was epic, nice blend of new and old, and of course his partial cover of i wanna be adored! I hope i get the greensphere tickets.

I didn't even hear that he had a gig coming up. I'm really disappointed now. I saw him with Babyshambles a few years ago in Carolow and he was brilliant. The crowd went absolutely crazy for him.

Has anyone else heard this? Citing "exhaustion". Heard it on Phantom but can't find anything else on the net about it...

Heard nothing myself. Got a ticket for Wednesday night, but this postponement should it be true could be a good thing, as I foolishly bought a ticket for Emmett Tinley the same night as I didn't note the clashing dates. So, now I may not have to leg it to the Academy after 10 or so songs now. Nice...

Cant say I'm too surprised. Pi**ed off though.

I had tickets for his Albert hall gig last summer so this is the second time it's happened to me:mad:

Hope he gets well but I don't think I will ever buy a ticket to a gig of his again

I was caught out a couple of times with his no-shows. This time I welcome it. Hopefully they'll get it back on again before christmas.

I reckon you should get along to Emmett Tinley's gig that night. He always puts on a stonking show. Dunno if it'd be your thing, but anyone who was keen to get to see Doherty may feel somewhat of a similar way for this fella's brilliance.

I really don't like putting struggling artists down but I saw Emmet Tinley in Crawdaddy about 3 years and it's managed to stick in my mind as, hands down, the most tedious performance I've ever witnessed. Every song seemed to wander on aimlessly for about 10 minutes without any chorus or hook to speak of. It seemed to tick every mediocre singer songwriter cliche in the book

Keep it on topic guys. No more Emmet Tinley talk

Nothing has been decided yet, i'd guess it'll be at the end of all of the tour dates he has scheduled. I'd guess in the new year - Jan/Feb.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,402 ✭✭✭nxbyveromdwjpg

    He's this lined up already:

22 Nov 2009 Tivoli Utreht, Netherlands
23 Nov 2009 Watt Rotterdam, Netherlands
24 Nov 2009 Effenaar Eindhoven, Netherlands
26 Nov 2009 Trix Hall Antwerp, Belgium
29 Nov 2009 Backstage Werk Munich, Germany
30 Nov 2009 Essigfabrik Cologne, Germany
1 Dec 2009 Uebel & Gefaehrlich Hamburg, Germany
2 Dec 2009 Kesselhaus Berlin, Germany
4 Dec 2009 Debaser Medis Stockholm, Sweden
    5 Dec 2009 Malmo, Sweden

    Then a Babyshambles tour:

    10 Dec 2009 O2 Academy Sheffield
12 Dec 2009 Cardiff University Cardiff
13 Dec 2009 Bath Pavillion Bath
    14 Dec 2009 02 Academy Liverpool
15 Dec 2009 Southampton Guildhall Southampton
17 Dec 2009 Manchester Ritz Manchester
    18 Dec 2009 Barrowlands Glasgow
    19 Dec 2009 O2 Academy Birmingham
20 Dec 2009 Rock City Nottingham.

So I mean.. I guess its possible we could be fitted in before Nov 22nd but its unlikely, and they'd need to be announcing it right now.

More likely we'll be in new year.

(And if we get another Babyshambles round instead of the solo gig I paid for the ticket for I'm gonna freak again)
