Last night i tried to install firmware on the web to make my 3 modem faster.

Well to cut a long story short...in the middle of the installation, something went wrong and now my 3 modem is dead, no flashing light nothing.

When i plug in my modem i get no prompt from the PC > E drive is read as empty. I tried uninstalling the USB ports and rebooting with the modem plugged in but no joy.

So is there any way of fixing this??

BTW its a huawei E220, WIN xp.

Installing firmware does not make the Modem go faster.

It's a high risk activity on any device that generally "bricks" it if it goes wrong. It should only be done if there is a known problem and you have suitable experience.

It's not a Drive letter appearing that is important. Go Device Manager and see is it detected as a Com Port at least.

If it is, then you can still re-run suitable update software. (Be logged on with Administrator rights and ensure it's E220 firmware)

If it does not appear as a com Port (usually Com5 or 6) and/or does not appear as a modem, then you will have to get it exchanged.

    Google Bricked E220
