    Dunguib fails banned substance test
    Tuesday, 21 July 2009 09:51

Cheltenham and Punchestown bumper winner Dunguib has tested positive for a banned substance.

The postive test was returned after the horses' win at the Paddy Power Champion Bumper at Punchestown in April.

The results of a 'B' sample are still being awaited but if the results match, Philip Fenton's stable star will be stripped of its title.

It would be a real pity. He was possibly the best Cheltenham bumper winner I have seen and it would be a shame to take the gloss of that. Of course he could also be banned from the racecourse for a time.

I wouldn't be overly impressed if I was the owner. As mentioned on another site, it may have been that he wasn't due to go to Punchestown, they treated him for something and then they decided to go to Punchestown. Maybe they thought it was out of his system. Maybe they forgot. No excuse really.

IIRC they said he was finished for the season after Cheltenham, so you could be onto something

I think because he tested positive to a BANNED SUBSTANCE....LOL ;)

    HARD LUCK HE GOT CAUGHT!!

Other wins may have just been him but you need to keep the foot on the gas if you are going to punchestown after winning at Cheltenham - which was the main target all year... A sudden decision and they've gone easy on him, they then need some help.

I surely think they would have blood tested him before going to punchestown if they were afraid of 'anything' being in his system - wouldn't that be the logical thing to do??
