anyways, as i was saying before this so-called fella interrupted me.. I think limerick will win on sunday :) with kerry (unfortunatly:(), meath, kildare and donegal all getting the win in football. And then galway in da other hurling match.

I wouldn't be overly confident of our chances. If we give Dublin an 8 point lead like we did Laois I really couldn't see us clawing it back. Whats with Limerick and playing crap in the first half of every game anyway.

On the plus side JMC seems to have installed a battling quality in this team that could see us coming out on top if its a tight game. Very hard one to call though. We really need to improve on last week if we are to win this one i feel!

I dont' think we'll be as bad again. We can't afford to be, think we didn't pay Laois enough respect, it was their All Ireland final and they were always going to be fired up for it. Our guys seemed laboured in contrast. If we had beaten Laois out the gate we would be facing Dublin as favourites, but because of our narrow victory we are now probably slight underdogs which will suit us down to the ground. It is hard to see where the points will come from though without Niall Moran in the team, James Ryan and Paul Browne will really have to step up to the mark and chip in with more scores. Interesting what you're saying about the hurlers being a second half team, its the complete opposite with our footballers, they always have a storming first half and then fade in the second.

I think Ritchie Bennis done that a few years ago too and it didnt last too long. Surely one big effort for next sunday is not too much to ask. i hope the hurlers want to die for the jersey because thats what has to happen.
Best of luck to them and we are all hoping for a result limerick needs.

Richie Bennis was shafted by the county board, the players really let him down. He didn't deserve to be treated in such a fashion, one bad year and he gets the chop. Treating good managers like dirt is nothing new to the Limerick County Board, as Tom Ryan will testify.

wouldn't necessarily say that Kildare beating Wicklow is a certainty. Remember Wicklow beat them last year and Wicklow have a lot more confidence now, so it's not as straight-forwards as it looks. I'd like to see, nay, love to see Wicklow win, but I think Kildare will scrape past them. But they will not go down without a fight. The rest of the football I agree with.

Maybe they'll let us put out the footballers in the 1st half, and the hurlers in the 2nd then we might get a decent 70 minutes.:p On a more serious note, our forwards are quite poor and erratic alright. Its almost impossible to predict which of them is going to get a few scores on the day. The two you mentioned seem to be among the brightest hopes at the moment. Paudie McNamara looks a decent player aswell. Breen apparently commutes from Scotland every week which seems far from ideal preparation.

I'd completely agree with you. It must be very hard for Justin to pick 6 forwards cause he dosent know what he will get. Who would you pick? I think Paudie, Shocks, James o'B and James Ryan, Browne should start. After that im not sure. Def wouldnt start Breen. Would like to see Ollie starting.

I wouldn't start James O'Brien as i think he's a great impact sub to have. He always does the business when he is introduced, his running game offers an alternative, and his customary couple of points are always welcome. He's a bit of nightmare for backs when he runs at them. I would consider starting Ollie at centre forward yes. He's had a good rest and hopefully can yet find some form. Mike O'Brien also must start half forward, if only so he can win primary possession from puckouts, which is what he's good at. James Ryan should be the other half forward. We need to stop the Dublin half-back line delivering any sort of good ball into Dotsy and Flynn. It was interesting to see that Shaughnessy did well on the 40 when deployed further out the field as a 4th half forward against Laois. Justin should consider putting him there again and letting him soak up any loose ball. Lets face it, he's doing nothing at corner forward and isn't likely to set the world on fire in that position this weekend. I would leave a two man full forward line of Paudie Mac and Donncha Sheehan. But the big man has to be fed good ball in by the lads in midfield and half back. Its no good hitting it in too long and over his head like was the case so many times last Sat. If he get a good supply of ball, he will do damage, if he doesn't get it, he'll be totally ineffectual. I wouldn't start Paul Browne as i think he disappears for long periods in games. As for Breen, he should have stayed in Scotland and played some shinty, becos he's certainly not a hurler. I hope Mark O Riordan is ok for corner back, if not Steve Walsh should come in. Anyone but Tom Condon!

eeny meeny miny mo is as good a way to pick the Limerick forwards as any other. I'd pretty much pick the names you mentioned there and see how they go. Whoever is the worst 2 or 3 of that lot on the day will get subbed anyway.

Unsure about where we should play Shaughs. He did get that goal against Wexford. He might be good for a goal at inside corner. Would he be better deployed around the 40 as you say and maybe win some ball and pick up a few points from there. He may fluctuate between the two positions and see what works best on the day. Either way Limerick badly need him to be on form if we are to have a chance.
