Another question about different asics models

So I was looking on to purchase a new pair of runners last week. For the last 8 years I have worn asics kayano and have no problems with them at all. I have never undergone gait analysis and don't know if I over pronate or under pronate etc.

Anyways I found a pair of asics kinsei going at a decent price so I thought I'd buy them and try them out. If they don't suit me I will use them as walking/non running trainers. I also splashed out on a pair of kayanos so I have to stay in for the next few weeks.

My question is, has anybody else had good/bad experiences with these and assuming asics kayano are the ideal shoe for me how does the kinsei model compare ?

Hi roadrunner, i have used Kinsei, 2100's, nimbus and Kayano's as training shoes (Blasphemy i hear them say). I generally use Kayano nowadays, although i cant pass up a bargain. Never had a gait analysis done either, although i intend on getting one done soon. Kinsie are a good bit heavier than even Kayano, i would use the Kayano as my main training shoe and the Kinsei as back up and everyday wear. I think the Kinsei are 420g each, thats nearly 1kg, weapons grade protection though.

I'm a proud Kayanoer, although today I jumped to a new shoe. Sticking with asics I got the 2140. I've been in the Kayanos for years with no problem. I changed shoe once and had to go back to the Kayano within a few months as the achilles didn't like the change. The price of the Kayano was €140 and the 2140 was €59.40. A no brainer really. The achilles will just have to deal with change. 2 blisters on the 10 miler - totally worth it!

    Hi

Yeah I noticed the weight all right. I don't mind training in a heavy shoe and racing in something lighter. If they give added protection (assuming they suit my running style/gait of whatever) then I don't care how heavy they are.

I had kayanos and then tried the Kinseis but had a few problems with them such as sore arches and shins so now just use them for knocking about in. I think my feet are just fussy though. My mate has a pair and thinks they're great.

I switched from asics to brooks to now pearl izumi, love them and I see Rosemary Ryan gives them and there rep Gerard Kirwan a mention in the Irish runner and roadrunner he is only around the corner from you and he allows you to take them out for a spin ;)

i seen that article where rosemarie ryan plugs pearl izumi. I have a bit of their cycling gear, its top stuff well designed and made. some of their flats look good. Mixing between brooks and asics at the moment, still cant beat the Kayano's in my mind, got two pairs for 98 each in Arnotts a while back, a little pricey especially when you are using them out in about 8-9 weeks but i think i will thank myself when i am older and can still walk..................i hope!

Me too. I have no problems spending money on runners. Sure if I can get a different model cheaper I would look into it but seen as I run most days and am like a demon when I can't I have no problems investing in quality footwear. In the long term it can be alot cheaper than physiotherapy
