Hi There so basically I have Sky Plus & multi room with a standard sky box . Now I want to install a sky HD box used only for FTA channels and also FTA HD channels.

I have no experience in setting up HD box's or any satellite receivers . Would I Be able to connect the new sky hd box to the current sky satellite ?? How hard is the set up??

    Thanks

do you want an additional hd box ? giving you 3 boxes.

if so you will have to get an Octo lnb (will give you enough to feed the 5 tuners) assuming you want to record the channels on the new box.

if you only want free channels then a humax hdr will suit you better.

i thought atleast if i havesky hd box 7 i deicde to pay a subscription i would have to pay installation & box costs?? Thanks

if you decide to subscribe with another multiroom you will need another phone line to the box,

you may find it hard to pick up a new sky hd box,
there are plenty of second hand ones on fleebay though.(buyer beware)

if its on free to view you wont be able to use the recoring feature.
so no need to change the lnb straight away.

Might be cheaper in the long run to get sky to install.

but that is entirely up to you.

Cool thanks for that. I already asked a local electrician about installing the sky hd box, he said that he could install another "INB" because there is already 2 sky boxes feeding off the one dish. If He installs the INB will i be able to record with freeview??

€85 to install it including providing INB & i provide the Box..Not bad is it??

Also if i decided to go for the humax hdr would i be able to get it connected to the sky dish to save installing another one??

as i said before you will have to get an Octo lnb to replace the quad one you have,

if you go for the humax you will be able to record any channel you get, BBCHD ITVHD etc.

(just remember that you will not be able to get RTE on a freesat box. )
