    Hi,

Has anyone out there been to Nice in France, if so could you please recommend a nice safe hotel in a quite area.
I've never been to this part of France before and have been told that its all about location location location. I,ve been on the net for weeks now and cannot find something I really like.
So if anyone has any recommendations they would be really welcome.

    Thanks so much

    Budget?

There's something for everyone there. Plenty of cheap hotels up by the train station, but it's not the nicest area IMHO. If you don't mind a really basic hotel, clean and central, try Hotel Acanthe. It's just off Place Massena, two mins from the old town, one from the shops, but it really is basic. Book directly, google for homepage. There are other reasonably priced hotels in the vacinity too.

The Hotel Suisse is very nice - its right at the east end of the Promenade Des Anglais overlooking the beach. Its quiet there, and very close to the old town.

Stayed there in August 2 years ago and had a room with a sea view and small balcony for about 140 a night. Not sure if that suits your budget?

Nice is a great town, I love it. The old town is brilliant with its little narrow streets and market and restaurants. And Monaco is only a 7 euro train ride away! (Or Cannes if you go the other way) A trip to Antibes is also highly recommended.

Hotel Suisse is nice. Make sure they give you passes to use Castel Plage if you're staying there. Otherwise if you want to use that beach it's €14 per day per bed and not really worth it if you have to pay. Free is good!

Worth seeing if La Peruse next door will match their rates. Go there for dinner from time to time and the waiter was telling us the last time that it's been really quiet this year, so they may do a deal.

Acanthe is only recommended if you're on a budget. I should have said that in the earlier post. I stayed there once on a rugby trip and it was fine for that. It's the only time I've had to use a hotel in Nice!
