I don't mean the slightest disrespect but the nature of the question suggests a lack of understanding of what a power meter is and what they are for. But fear not as when you hear how much a power meter costs you'll be glad you probably don't need one yet. An *entry level* power meter costs €1500 and a the one used by most pros costs over three grand.

Power meters are for use only on the bike and don't double as standalone (ie off the bike) HRMs. The only brands that work and are reliable are SRM and Powertap. Polar do have one but it's accuracy and relibilty are questionable.

Polar HRMs are the way to go though. The S725x is class.

thanks for the reply. sorry, i meant to say power sensor. i know that the power meter works with the bike alone and is expensive

im really asking about the power output sensor that comes with the cs600x and some other models. is that sensor the same as the cadence sensor and if so do they work for running as well.

going by joe friel the s725x measures cadence on the bike and also power while running. is that correct?

have you found any faults with the s725x?

    Thanks again

im going feckin mad looking through the different options.

ive just looked again at the s725x. the accessories that are compatible with it are

    1 foot pod
    2 speed sensor
    3 cadence sensor

can 2 and 3 be be used during the same workout while cycling?

do any of these come with the monitor or do they all have to be bought separate?

where is the cheapest place to purchase them?

    thanks
