Drumkeen Flags

Wondered if someone from Donegal can explain the flags in Drumkeen.
For the past several weeks two Tricolours have been flying on a traffic island in the middle of the N13 and, before that, a Palestinian flag flew there.

I pass through the village regularly and cannot see any reason for the flags - no memorial, no posters, no slogans. Is some event being commemorated or what?

It is a mystery to me but I would love to know what it is all about.

It's around this time of year that the hunger strikers are commemorated.
