I know one or two. People are really friendly in Maynooth though, if that's what you're worried about! :)

There are currently two polish phd researchers in the sociology department studying the experiences of polish immigrants, I'm sure they would be happy to speak with you next September

I don't think you understand the real meaning of what chauvinism is. It a misconception that a chauvinist is a sexist term. All sexists are chauvinists but not all chauvinists are sexists.

What did you mean? I tend to use the term m-f to distinguish

Nah, a chauvinist is someone who contributes to a cause purely because he/she is part of the group that the cause represents.

a person with a prejudiced belief in the superiority of his or her own kind
    an extreme bellicose nationalist

Chauvinism is extreme and unreasoning partisanship on behalf of a group to which one belongs, especially when the partisanship includes malice and hatred towards a rival group. Jingoism is its nationalistic, militarized form. ...

However the use of the word Chauvinists.... with dots by correspondant 'nationalist' in the context indicated that he was applying the term to Polish persons. When it comes to nationality, they are a bit and so are we. For this timid opinion 'nationalist ' hardly earned the vulgar abuse bestowed above. This supports my view that the common form of Chauvinists around nowadays are the self proclaimed liberals.

There are lurking problems resulting from the scale of Polish immigration which occurred during the boom. It's not the fault of the Polish, it's the fault of the government/banks/builders who committed the next generation to austerity in order to enrich a few.

The people who make posts like this are the reason why we have to have mods!

Nationialist says one word and he gets this kind of abuse! The way he posted it was in a "jokey" sense.

Forums are for discussion and entertainment. Someone should delete that post and give the poster get a severe telling off.

I dont have a problem with Polish people as individuals, in fact I have many Polish friends.

I don't think there's anything chavinistic about two Polish academics studying the experience of Polish immigrants in Ireland. It's an interesting subject, and they're probably well equipped to deal with it, y'know, being Polish and living in Ireland. Nationalist, I think you're looking for offence or some sort of problem where there really isn't one.

OP, there are many Polish people in NUIM. It's a very multicultural college, you'll have a great time here. :)
