    Hi,

    I am thinking about doing the above course.

    I finished a computer science degree about 5 years ago so thinking of updating my skills.
    Have been working in QA over the last few years and I am hoping to move into java development, hence thinking of doing the course.

    Has anybody done the course here, what is it like etc?
    Is it worth doing?

    Have you heard anything good or bad about the course.

    hey john - I applied for the msc in engineering computation - think the two courses share a lot of modules.

    Wouldnt be interested to hear also if any current/past students taking the course have feedback on it.

    Looking forward to it personally as the topics covered really interest me, hope I get accepted cant wait to get going on it.

    I know a few people who have done it and from what they tell me, it is more of a conversion course than a true MSc, so if you have a computing background there is a bunch of modules that you know about already that you have to take again (you can't get exempted from them). And apparently some of the lecturers have no IT background at all.

    A lot of people I have talked to who are looking to upskill, and want a longer computer career are going for DT217 which is called "MSc in Knowledge Management", but seems to be in fact all about the modren IT industry, so moving from Databases to Data Mining and Data Warehousing, moving from traditional systems analysis techniques to the Agile methods and knowledge-based anaylsis. Also the Enterprise Systems is supposed to be cracking, and a lot of the option modules are first-class. See what you think;

    Thanks for that @NiteOwl2

    Its been 7 years since I finished my degree(didn’t think it was that long when I wrote my first post J) so going over the same stuff would not really be an issue, as I have forgotten most of what I had learnt.

    Which of the course would be more suited to getting into development as that is what the objective is?

    Definitely DT093 would be better for a development role, DT217 for an analyst role. Just to help(?) give you more choices, there is another MSc, DT210 an MSc in Information Technology;
