    Found this link to a triathlon in Orlando. http://www.buttar.com/events/triathlon/MossTriFestival/index.htm
    Not so much interested in the event, just the prize catagories:

    Age Group - Males and females in the following age divisions: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, …, 80+
    Military – Active or retired military personnel – must show military ID at check in
    Clydesdale 39 & Under – Men weighing between 185 & 224 pounds or more as weighed at check in and 39 years of age or younger (racing age)
    Clydesdale 40 & Over – Men weighing between 185 & 224 pounds or more as weighed at check in and 40 years of age or older (racing age)
    Super-Clydesdale 39 & Under – Men weighing 225 pounds or more as weighed at check in, younger than 40 years of age (racing age)
    Super-Clydesdale 40 & Over – Men weighing 225 pounds or more as weighed at check in, 40 years of age and older (racing age)
    Athena – Ladies weighing 140 pounds or more as weighed at check in
    Relay – 3 person teams - Coed, Male and Female for Sprint triathlon only

    Is this the way of the future? Will we all be be competing against people of our own size rather than our own age? Is running the new boxing? Personnally I think it is a good idea.

    Note:
    185lbs = 13st 2 lbs
    225lbs = 16st 1lbs
    140lbs = 10st

    I am tired of watching the whippets zoom by.

    How about this for rugby too while we are at it?

    I find it a little insulting that they are basically calling any woman over 10 stone fat. :mad:

    Find this very funny, Was in a chat with a amate of mine last year after the olympics and he was saying how much better the irish boxers were compared to the runners, I said well it must be easier when your only up against people in your same weight... It's something different but the thing I like about running is its a pure sport anyone can race anyone doesnt mattre about age, size etc...

    LOL - what a brutal idea. Here is one that's a little better, PUT THE PIE DOWN!

    Can just see the next olympics and the 1500m for the morbidly obese . I think with boxing there are safety reasons for this but no need in running other then a bit of fun.

    Athena was the Greek Goddess of warfare. Definitely NOT fat. Maybe more muscular than the average female, but not fat.

    I'm sad to note that I'm an over 40 Clydesdale. :(

    Wait. She's the
    Greek goddess of wisdom, peace, warfare, strategy, handicrafts and reason, shrewd companion of heroes and the goddess of heroic endeavour. She is the virgin patron of Athens, which built the Parthenon to worship her.

    Important ones bolded. :pac:

    Doesn't this give an unfair advantage to the taller people?

    If I were 6ft1 and 185 lbs, my BMI would still be a "normal" 24.4, whereas a 5ft8 male at 184lbs would have an "overweight" BMI of 28.0

    I think they should measure height and calculate BMI before setting categories, much fairer on the vertically challenged as well as the weight challenged.
