    Folks,

I have Dell laptop that looks as though the backlight has gone in it.
Just wondering if they can be replaced, and if so are they expensive? Just want to know if its worth getting it repaired or not.

could be inverter or ccfl tube. if its inverter, its easy enough to replace, but the tube is a different story. does the backlight flicker or come on at all ?.

No, the screen is black. But if you press the brightness buttons you can see th eedges of the screen getting brighter.

would be a waste to buy a new laptop, if its just the invertor they are handy to change, is it out of warranty?
