2010, the film's trailer was released last year and has been finished for ages now. Romero needs to find some new material, it's getting a little old at this stage.

Why was the release pushed back? Last I heard about Island Of The Dead was that it was out in late 2009.

I thought Diary Of The Dead was an improvement on Land Of The Dead, so am hoping for an improvement again, but I have a feeling that he is going to go down the "thinking" zombie route that he spoke of exploring further after he made Land of...

Oh well, with luck World War Z will be out in 2010, and it will not be a toned down version of the book.

Well the Battle Of Yonkers in WWZ is not going to happen without CGI :D

I presume WWZ is a book about zombies?
Possibly a retarded question but I had to ask.

...and here I was hoping that the title hadn't been released and we could've had a thread deducing through comedic means what the title was. Thanks a lot Romero... jerk.

    Baguette of the dead
    Credit crunch of the dead
    Daikatana of the dead
    etc...

He should make his version of Resident Evil instead of "A quarter past 4 of the living Dead"

His next movie should be None of the Dead, which is just a normal character drama about living people.

Ah screw it, Romero still does class zombie flicks that the imitators cannot come close to. So what if he's flogging a dead horse and completely proving that he is creatively run down to the ground, it'll still be a good 90 minute zombie flick and I won't complain about that.

I think he needs to move on. His zombie films have been getting stale.
Thanks for the memories, but please do something else.

It's a US remake of Shaun of The Dead because the American audiences couldn't understand the accents and are unable to read subtitles.

Feh, I thought both Land and Diary were tripe, nothing like as good as his first three films. I get the feeling he's in George Lucas mode these days. WWZ should hopefully raise the bar for zombie flicks and either give Romero a higher standard to aim for or make him realise he's no longer relevant...

This is the only Zombie film Im excited about.

I have alot of faith in Palumbo's ability so I have big hopes for this one.

The new title is Survival of the Dead. With each new piece of news I hear regarding this my expectations fall even more.

It's in development (pre-production at the moment, according to Wikipedia), with J. Michael Straczynski on board for the screenplay.

Photos and synopsis over here, sounds like yet another new spin alright, not sure if it's a good one though!

I'm going to be the voice of dissent here and say I'm actually looking forward to this one. Diary was a dissapointment because very few films can pull off the POV camera thing, to my mind, only The Blair Witch and [Rec] have done so successfully. It really strained your suspention of disbelief that they just kept on filming over such a long period. I think without the whole POV gimmick, we'll have a much better film this time round.

Apparently this is getting a screening at the Toronto Film Festival in rough cut form,so its obviously not finished yet.

Incidently,so is [Rec]2.As some on here will know,I was not exactly enamoured with the first one(to say the least) but this does sound more than a little interesting.Ive spoilered it for those that havnt seen the original.

In 2007, directors Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza teamed up to unleash the genuinely harrowing [REC], a film that simply set out to scare the crap out of the audience, without any pretensions. The fan favourite quickly spawned the U.S. remake Quarantine, which only proved how innovative the original was.

[REC] is told through a reporter’s camera as she accompanies firefighters on a routine call and ends up trapped with them in an apartment building infected with a ferocious virus. Sealed in and desperate, they trace the contagion to the attic, discovering abandoned research on demonic possession. Needless to say, [REC] didn’t have a happy ending.

While infectious demonic possession was itself a disturbing premise, the live-television aesthetic of [REC] gave it a level of realism that translated into palpable fear – it was not just a film to be seen, but to be experienced.

Now the duo returns with [REC] 2, which leaps right back into the action as a medical officer and a SWAT team outfitted with video cameras are sent into the sealed-off apartment to control the situation.

By using the flipped perspective of the camera-equipped troops, Balagueró and Plaza have designed a shocker meticulously calculated to set your nerves on edge. [REC] 2 is Aliens to Alien, a sequel that ramps up the action but does not defile the spirit of its predecessor. Balagueró and Plaza have proved themselves exciting additions to the gory canon of Euro-horror masters, and they can’t wait to drag the Midnight Madness audience into the darkness, screaming at the top of their lungs.

    Time wull tell I guess.
