Apologies if this is in the wrong place.

I bought an 80 gig ipod about a year and a half ago and its gone a bit fooked.

Basically the round section in the middle isnt working in that I cannot play/pause,skip forward/backwards,navigate through the various menus, select anything or turn it on/off.I can scroll up and down but cannot do anything more.

On that,I have a couple of questions.

1.How long is ipod under warranty from apple.Im not sure if I still have it BTW so that may not matter.
2.Where would one get it repaired and any ideas of the cost?

    Any advice welcomed!

I would advise doing a restore before considering repair. Apple provide warranty for a year from purchase.
As for repairs, I haven't tried this crowd but they popped up in a google search...

Dang,€55 for click wheel replacement.Bit priceier than I would have liked.

Anyone recommend any independent stores or traders that repair them?

    There's mactivate, and there's techmenders.

They both do iPod repairs as far as I know.

You can buy the parts online and do it yourself also. The iphones are a bit tricky but ipods are easy. I did an new lcd and battery on an ipod today it about 15 mins. The clickwheel is even easier afaik.

    Really?

Id probably be a bit wary of tinkering with it TBH.

Is it difficult to open it up?

Just looking at it here and Im not too sure what I would use to open it up.

the kits you buy come with a couple of plastic tools, you just basically insert them in the little gap between top and bottom, slide them along and it pops apart. They are of a soft plastic that wears easily so usually any place you order the part from includes them with the part.
