what paint do i use??

i just got a 2nd hand chest of drawers id like to paint and do up, i know sand prime and paint, but what paint do i use?? i dont want to use gloss. im going to do it kinda like the country style hand painted stuff, its matt but can i just use normal paint from b+Q is it eggshell???!!! HELP!!!:D
