    3 UK Dongle from UK

Thinking of buying this from the UK (see link above). Just wondering if I can stick in an Irish 3 Sim and use it here?

You'll have to unlock it before you can do that.

    Is it hard to do?

Is it possible to leave the UK sim in it and top up via the web. My understanding is that 3UK don't charge extra for roaming in ireland and the UK monthly rates are better than 3 ireland.

    Hi Tweaky

The UK "3 like home agreement" finished in June 2009.

Do not do this or you will be charged full roaming data rates and it will cost you a fortune.

    Cheers

Just for the record, it's not the easily home unlockable ZTE USB modem that 3 sell in the UK, it's a Huawei E156G modem, which you most probably will have to get unlocked. They look very similar.

Thanks for that - saved me wasting money on one

THe unlockable one has the 3 logo in bright green.

Some shops in NI still have them for 20 pounds and they can be easily unlocket. I think you need a ZTE modem.
