Anyone know where I can locate a timeline for the star wars books? My boyfriend is obsessed with them but he wants to read them all in order. I've tried finding them but any i've found have been a mix of comics and random things, i'm just looking for the books if that's possible, or at least one that tells you if the title listed is a comic
    Anyone able to help me?

Your best bet is to buy one of the newest books, and 60% of them will have an updated timeline of novels in the front. Just at a glance at my collection, Karen Travis' recent book, Order 66, has a very good time line in the front. The Darth Bane books do too as well, and as they are the earliest books in the timeline, you're best buying them, as he'll be reading them first anyway, and can work from there.

There's always new books coming out so the timeline may have some new additions every once and a while, but books released in the last 12 months (Order 66 and Bane's Rule of Two in softback) will be up to date with the exception of maybe one or two books which will be added along the way.

So start with getting Darth Bane: Path of Destruction, and Darth Bane: Rule of Two by Drew Karpyhsyn (excuse the spelling) and work from the timeline in the front of Rule of Two (softback, not sure if the hardback has one, but unless your boyfriend's loaded he'll be buying them all in softback).

Hope that helps. Any other questions fire away. :D

Reading them in order sounds heartbreaking.
Google "top 10 Star Wars books" and start by getting the ones he hasn't read, there's a lot of bad Star Wars literature out there.

I'm nearly through em all man, started em in Order. It's only taken the best part of 3 years :p and I'd read a book a week on average!!

Granted I read a lot of books other than SW, but dyl10 is right, it's a tough slog that includes a few books that are really poor reading. But nonetheless, I'd do it all again in a heartbeat. And the top selling books are not always the best...

Thanks a million for the help everyone!!
He's a huge fan of Bane books so i'll get him to check the timeline there and print off that link for him too just incase!
I tried talking him out of reading them all in order, but once he sets his mind to something there's no stopping him!
Thanks anyway, i forsee i'll be buying him books for every birthday and christmas from now on!

Just as a side note on the logistics of getting these books.

I picked up 10 star wars books for 15$ in the first second hand book shop I walked into in California last year. Being a student I definitely think second hand books is the way to go and I struggle to find second hand Star Wars in Ireland, so if either of you happen to be going away to the USA or otherwise, have a look around!

In most cases, I find Amazon to be a good source. A lot of the time I pick up ex-library books for 1 cent + P&P.

Hope your book hunt goes well!

I work across the road from a second hand book store so i'll let them know that i'm on the look out for them, maybe they can keep any that come in aside for me
Think my credit card'll get to know amazon quiet well none the less :D
