I normally have some of the Holland & Barrett cashew nuts & raisons and try to bring bannanas alongside water

sauteed breast of guinea fowl, fresh english asparagus with a hollandaise sauce with a big merlot, not great for the golf but delish.....

Normally have a feed about an hour before i start. Out on the course, bananas, berocca in a 750ml bottle of water. Two bars of wholenut. Sounds cat, I know, but it works for me.
What I would like to know if anyone has any help, is what does anyone take if they're out at 8.30am any morning. Can't seem to get the energy levels up at all. Even after having breakfast at 7.30am, still takes me 5 holes to get going.

I've gotten into the habit of bringing a sandwich with me whenever I'm playing these days. It seems that unless I stuff my face an hour or so before a round (which introduces its own problems), I'm getting hungry by the 9th hole again.

If I'm out early, I stick with a bowl of porridge but still bring the sandwich. Outside that, I'll always bring a banana and one bar of chocolate.

The odd time ill bring a sandwich with me which always keeps me going fairly well but in the last couple of months i've started bringing these with me, http://www.naturevalley.com/Products.aspx
when i saw them first I thought they would be horrible but they are actually really nice, healthy and filling.

Had this slab called a "golf bar" during the captains final round on Saturday. I had very little to eat and this thing (choc chip and something else) pretty much filled me for the round.

    Nothing.

I can adequately go for a round of golf without eating.

For early morning rounds I just have cereal. rice crispies I find are good. For some reason apples tend to have the right balance for me. Avoid gorging on anything as digestion saps energy and can ruin concentration.

I usually carry the granola bars and water but I find them dry. Much prefer those golf bars which I eat one bite per hole between the 4th and 10th holes. they are pricey though. they were charging 2.50 for them at Fota in the junior open last weekend.

if you know any friendly shop keeper ask em to get you a box 24/48 wholsale they wont be €1 each............recession golf :pac:-

porridge for me when i can, plus water for front 9, luco sport and chocy/energy bar for back 9.........lot better finding a 2 week old bar than a furry banana

It depends on the time of day that I'm playing...if it's early morning I'd bring a bottle of lucozade and a banana, if it's later on and I've had brekkie/lunch then maybe just a bottle of water and a bar of chocolate to keep the sugar levels up.
Don't bring anything that can interfere with your grip, like something that is greasy or covered in crumbs that will stick to your fingers.

Any sort of decent protein bar (proti or which ever ya like) and large banana, too much suger in the small ones...about 2 litres of water usually get me round!!
