Whats the cheapest package out there at present?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Sticker,

I cant really help when it comes to finding the cheapest price. I have the older Iphone 3G and bought from the apple store in the UK.....but I had to jailbreak and unlock.

My question is, why would you not want to jailbreak? It really does open up your phone to a lot of cool applications and utils. You can always un-jailbreak it (restoring it to a genuine apple software image) if it was warranty you were concerned about.

    Thanks

    Cheers for the quick reply!

I'll be 100% honest, I had no solid reason to jailbreak - truth is I know little about the procedure! If indeed I was to buy it and jailbreak it - would I have web coverage?!

Also - Where's the cheapest spot to buy the new model (16gig 3GS) if I was happy to jailbreak it!

    Thanks again!

EDIT: I just looked at the Apple Store UK - and the 3G 8gig is retailing for £350!!! - A bit steep methinks for the old model!

you're either gonna have to buy it on O2 with a contract which will cost you €200 on the option @ €40 a month, buy it on pre-pay @ roughly €500 i think or get a sim-free one from Italy/Belgium, they're pretty much the main options

Yeah - I think the €200 plus €40 per month is the best option, although the €40 is BRUTAL - 175 minutes per month, and 100 texts - thats pretty steep for the service offered. If I went for the €500 option, I'd have to add credit for the year - so better to go for the €200 contract - anyone know how long the contract lasts?

I tried to ring Blanch & Grafton Street - "...Out of stock, no idea when it'll be back in..."

Am jailbreaking it actually increases the functionality and you loose nothing. As for buying it, O2 contract or unlocked on ebay etc.

It'll be a while before you're able to just walk into an O2 shop and they'll be able to hand you one judging by the amount of people not able to get their hands on one at the minute! myself included!!!
