Filling a gap ...

Just starting to research my options ...

I had one of my 1st pre-molar extracted. It's bothering me when eating and I will be looking to fill that space very shortly.
    My 2nd pre-molar is crowned.
I am currently under Zoladex treatment, which, apparently, is a risk when getting dental treatment...
I suppose my questions are :
1./ What are the options available ?
2./ Would I have to get the 2nd pre-molar extracted too?
3./ How high is the risk to the jaw bone with Zoladex ?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Zoladex affects bone density doesn't it?. If you have an OPG x-ray taken, it will show the bone levels in your mouth. If you were getting an implant, then the bone level would be an issue, but you can get bone grafts. Not that an implant is your only option...you could get a bridge. The best thing to do really is go to a reputable dentist, have your xray taken, and discuss treatment options. :)

A quick internet search yields that zoladex is an implanted LHRH or gonadorelin analogue used in the treatment of certain cancers and IVF. A known side effect is a reduction in bone density. You should consult a postgraduate trained implantologist/oral surgeon/periodontist before considering implant therapy.

X-rays and possibly bone density scanning may need to be performed to indicate the quality of bone in the area that you wish to have implanted. Bone quality is a key component of successful implant therapy as is bone quantity. Just because you are taking this drug does not mean that you cannot have implant therapy. As said, consult a properly trained specialist before making your decision.

    Hi all,
Thank you for your replies - Much appreciated.
I shall have a further chat with my dentist and consultant. It's better to start a discussion while having a little more information at hand :)
    Thanks again,
