went to pool this afternoon, didnt get many laps in as was just to busy.

went back down tonight to do a run

2 min warm up on rowing machine,

slow jog at 6.0 for 2mins, then 2mins run, 90 secs walk until 17mins at 8.5, then 2 x 30secs at 12.5. found it tough but hadnt done a run in a week or so.

am stressing a bit about the swim but going to keep going and hopefully will have made progress by the 13th september, the time for the 750m swim is 45mins so lot of work to be done.

if am honest am totally freaked now as i dont know if i can do this but my application is gone in the post and i have to do this for myself, prove myself wrong. i am eating more crap and that needs to stop, new start tomorrow morning and take one day at a time, so not easy i hate that i get comfort from food(not really comforting anymore, makes me feel worse) but i am 35 and i need to make this change now, sorry for ranting a wee bit here just need to let of some steam,

havent done a huge amount since last week so back into it today.

went for a run this afternoon and it lashed rain for most of it, distance 1.8km, running and walking took me 23mins

then went to pool and did 28 laps, not sure of the time, am managing to do the full length while breathing but not able to do 2 lengths continous will just keep pushing towards it.

training tomorrow - am going to pool, will cycle to work

tomorrow evening is boxing training so will prob go to that tomorrow night

Tuesday - 3min warm up rower, 25min treadmill with 4 x 30 bursts at 12km, weights session 35mins, then into pool and 22 lengths

    wednesday - boxing class

today - 40min spin class, 18mins treadmill, walked 90secs did 2.4km. went into pool did 8 lengths was exhausted.

my biggest thing at the moment is the food i am eating so much crap so my weight isnt dropping and carrying 4.5 stone is making the training harder. really need to sit down this weekend and plan the food for the week.

    Hi sfhawke7w,

Best of luck with your training. I'm very new to this myself so by no means an expert, but you seem to be doing bits of too many things. I suspect you would be better off with more specific sessions ie, split you sessions into one for running, and one for swimming. Running/walking will be easier outside. You may want to get a longer cycle done at the weekend also. Some of the folk here may be better to advise.

In relation to the crap food, weight has never been a major issue for me, but given previous attempts at quitting smoking had resulted in increased weight, I've found certain things have helped this time:

    1. Water and lots of it. I find having a glass/bottle nearby to have a drink from reduces the urge to grab something to eat.

    2. Don't buy crap food. I don't mean that to sound patronising, but my experience is that if its in the house, I'll eat it. I can't have chocolate with my coffee if I did'n't buy the bag of funsize bars at the weekend.

    3. Eat a decent breakfast.

Hope the above might have been some help.

am following a specific plan for the tri i am doing in september, and one of the things is to get used to coming off the bike and doing a run after. I alternate between outdoors and the gym. at weekend i have a 10mile cycle this week, i need to swim everyday as it is my weakest and need to practice to improve, i have cut my boxing class to one night as it was 2-3nights, today is a rest day but i will go to the pool and get some practice in, i should be swimming over 14 lengths straight at this stage but only got my breathing sorted in the last week.

thanks for the advice re food, i drink plenty of water and i dont have the crap in the house but i find i go to the shop and end up buying it so am going to try and be really strong this week and see how i get on.

    thanks again
