Well I know that I can open PDF's on e-mail on a 3G, can you do something similar on an iTouch?

I have Adobe Acrobat professional, which allows you split documents...I do it all the time if I know I have to e-mail someone with a specific maximum attachment size. I'm sure that there must be web versions that will do the same thing...split the document into sections less than 10MB in size?

hmm good idea but can you then read the pdf's offline? or do you have to be on the net to see them?

No, you don't need to be online, you just need to have e-mailed them to yourself so that you can have a look at the e-mail whenever you want. Its a workaround...at best...I'm sure though that there must be book reader apps that would do this a lot simpler...

There's a program called Air Sharing that allows you to store files on your iPhone. You need a wifi network to transfer them. Works great.
