anyone know is there a way to get these to work?

i know all notifications go through apple servers.

jailbroke using redsn0w 0.8 and unlocked using ultrasn0w, but i am still using a AT&T sim card that's attached to an genuine iPhone contract.

there's a guide on iclarified that's for the 2g phone, but i'm guessing since they specified the 2g phone that it would be incompatible with the 3G S version.

Push notifications dont work at the moment when jailbroken. Those teams you mentioned are currently working on fixing it.

AFAIK, Push works with jailbroken iPhones as long as they were activated with the official carrier. I think the issue arises if you "hacktivated" your iPhone?

yeh just seen now that the push notifications work using iphone 3g s using 3.0 OS is working.

i assume it's because i'm using an AT&T sim that has a iphone contract on it.

won't be able to test my O2 until Christmas time when i'm back in Ireland, hopefully the dev-team will have found a way to by-pass the official carrier boundary.

can somone explain this in bit more detail? I had activated it with O2 and than JB, but I will unloock it now...does this mean that I will not get SMS notifications for instance? which unloock should I use?

SMS notifications is a generic GSM standard, it has nothing to do with the iPhone, so unlocking your iPhone will not effect SMS.

Other apps that rely on Push are iPhone specific, so are effected by the jailbreak/unlock.

When you use redsn0w to jailbreak your iPhone, it involves restoring to OS3.0. Part of this restoring process involves the activation of the iPhone. If you have your O2 sim in the iPhone, it activates with the official carrier (O2) and then proceeds to Jailbreak the iPhone. If you didn't have an O2 sim in the iPhone and used say Vodafone, 3 etc.. then the redsn0w process will "hactivate" the iPhone before going on to Jailbreak.

iPhones that have been hactivated rather than activated have the issues with Apps that use Push...

Does all that make sense ;)
