Strange problem Missing GB's on SSD

    Folks

    just got my work laptop given to me after I left the company, it's been wiped and had XP pro on it.

    It has a 64GB SSD HDD but there is only 8.4GB visible on the C drive and no other partitions.

    I'm trying to reload the OS myself, using Vista but Vista is refusing to go on because it needs 7.4GB free and there is only 1.4GB free on the drive ?!

    Any ideas on how I can get to see the additional 56GB that is missing , assume I do that and i will be able to load the Vista OS

    Strange issue alright... Theres no jumpers on the drive itself to limit the size by any chance is there? Could the unit be faulty? Try downloading a Demo version of Acronis Disk Director and making the boot media. Formatting the drive through it may work, may give an indication as to any errors that the drive may have also.

    Got it sorted, the missing space was unallocated, downloaded a partition tool and allocated the space

    Thanks for the input lads
