Anyone living in South Dublin would have seen this if they were working in the city, seen from the road / train. I cycled past it going to school , the clock on the side would let me know if I was late. Unfortunitally this period 1930ies building was demoloshed in the mid 70ies to make way for the bland office block that exists today.

I dont remember it but it looks like a nice building. I love the art deco style. Is it those offices nearly opposite the Hotel?

It was a little further down from the Tara Towers on the right just before the bottle bank and Texaco, Amaizing building, built in the old Dublin Airport terminal building stle.

The 70ies did more damage to Dublin than the rest of the Century put together, It was basically a free for all fueled by corrupt Government backhanders etc that destroyed much heritage and replaced them with monstrosities. We had Hawkins House, Central Bank, Civic Offices ESB head office on Fitswilliam St that took down a whole row of Georgian Houses. Sam Stephenson was the culprit architect behind most of the above and deserves his name listed into in the Irish hall of shame.

I trawled on line for a decent picture couldn't get other than what I posted however is a book published on former Dublin landmarks that had disappeared which includes a very good photo of IMCO, it and also includes the sweepstakes building, Dunlaoghaire Courthouse, former Georges St Dunlaoghire before the hideous shopping Ctr and heaps more.

It reminds of the Hoover Building in London.

It was built around the same time, fortunately it still exists today as the UK Government has a bit more respect for preserving modern architecture unlike the cowboys that ran our country over the years. .
