Following from this post of mine in the shuttle thread
Just seen it again tonight - moving a slower then Wednesday night! Camera set up on tripod, remote release and half decent frame set up. 30 second exposure and look grand on the back of the camera on the preview straight after shutter closed. Back into the computer and no image to be found.....:mad::mad::confused::confused::confused:
    ...slightly pi$$ed off

I just noticed that all 12 shots i took this evening are missing  Can anybody help me - can they be recovered?
When i go to playback right now on my camera the shots are numbered 100-1000, 100-1101 and then 100-1114 (a test shot i took since i came home)
I reviewed each shot on the auto playback when each was taken and appeared fine.
I haven't touched the lock or anything on the SD card....any help?

Could they have been taken on the internal memory of the camera? Try playback without the card in the camera.

Failing that, you might have a corrupted file on the card. Most camera shops offer a 'recovery' service, it's not guaranteed to work, but in my experience it usually does. It will recover files deleted or lost from a memory card.

Tried to view pics on both camera and on computer - no luck. Anything that came be done from here tonight?

Edit - camera has no internal memory

If they were on the card I have had Quite a but of luck using Stellar Phoenix. It is not free but very inexpensive.
It found and recovered more data then the SD card I have used it on should be able to hold.

Hi I had the same happen to me at a wedding skipped 12 or so shots every 50 taken, I ran Image Rescue on the card and it recovered all of them, could be just a corrupt file. Image Rescue came on my Lexar cards, I have found it to be an excellent file recovery programme. check the Lexar site.

Thanks guys - had a bit of a google for free software and found Picture Rescue 1.2.1
    http://picture-rescue.en.softonic.com/mac/download
The trial version is limited to one recovery, so i managed to get the main shot i was after. The full version is only $3 so think i'll be making a purchase.....
    Thanks for help :D

photorec is free and non destructive. I've recovered files from disk and memory card successfully with it.
