System software upgrade? (Noob question)

    Rented a BRD this evening. Stuck it in the PS3 and it won't play because it informs me I "must renew the encryption key" by performing a "system software update". I don't use the PS3 all that often (so I'm unfamiliar) and haven't it connected to the net (I use mobile connection).

    Question is: what next? Help appreciated :)

    My guess is you have to connect to the net and update the software to make the disk work.

    I think that happened to me last year when i rented a BR, i had it connected to the net so it done it automatically.

    You can go here and download the latest PS3 software, put it on a USB memory stick and update your ps3 that way..I'm not sure if the BRD software is separate to the update provided to download online...but it's worth a try!!
