    Lads,
I used play alot of golf, got the handicap down to 7 at one stage, but havent played a competition for 2 years now and am not a member of a club...just wondering whats happening to the handicap?
if say i rejoined a club in the next few years will i automatically get the old one back?

No, once you haven't been a member for 6 months you lose your handicap as far as I know. However, you should just have to hand in 3 cards once you join a club, along with a letter detailing your situation and your previous handicap which should also be taken into consideration.
I got down to 8 and let a membership lapse when I effectively gave up the game for 3 or 4 years. I resumed on 8 when I joined up my current club (3 cards and a simple letter to the handicap sec.).
