Fiance and I are going to Vegas in 2 months to get married. It's just going to be the 2 of us going and we would like to bring a small cake (say 6") with us to celebrate. Any boardsies done this before? What type of cake travels best? We don't like fruit cake or chocolate biscuit cake... :)

    Fruit cake travels best :)

You also could bring with you only the decorations for the cake (ie topper packed in plenty of bubble wrap) and get a small plain white cake in the States. Though I would not recommend bringing sugar flowers or delicate royal icing decorations as they could be easily broken.

If you are still bringing cake from here - make sure that the filling is not made of fresh creme as that goes off without a fridge in no time at all. In that case I would recommend a high density sponge cake with jam filling (marzipaned and iced). You alsways can put fresh creme on it when serving :)

Thanks for the advice. I will try out some high density sponge cakes with jam and see how that goes.
I'd rather take a small cake from here is possible than try get one over there and maybe pay over the odds for an inferior cake or not find a suitable one at all.
We love sponge cakes though so your suggestion should work!
