I am hoping such a device exists that will solve my problem...

I have a macbook which i connect to a lcd screen via the mini-dvi-->DVI cable

I am looking to pick up a playstation 3 and connect it to my lcd screen via a HDMI--->DVI cable.

so here is my question, is it possible to buy a 'switch', a device where i could plug the DVI cable from the macbook into one socket, and the DVI cable from the PS3 into another, then have one cable come out the other end to connect to my screen,

in the device im looking for, I would need to be able to switch which cable is connected to the screen.

I hope I'm being clear here, I dont know how to explain it better, I have googled it but without a name for the device, I'm getting nowhere,

    can anyone help out??

Am i not right in saying that the mini dvi out on your mac won't accept a signal?

Like it's a video output not an input? ya know?

i take it the mac doesnt have vga out?

Way im set up with xbox and pc is i use dvi from pc to monitor and xbox to monitor via vga cable , then i just press the button on the monitor to switch between them. Most monitors will have both these connections usually.

Don't forget to buy a cable from the switch to the monitor.

the mac doesnt have vga out, to get rid of the need of the switch i suppose i could get a hdmi to vga cable...but i have no idea if the resolution will be the same, I have no clue about this type of thing....
