Was just wondering how the cut is predicted in the Open. I thought it was all the players up to 10 shots from the leader. But with the leader in the Open at -5 they saying that its going to be +3/4.

    It's looking like plus 4.

10 shot rule is still used at The Masters I think... used to be in use at The Open but not for 10 years or so I'd say

Daft rule imo....so in theory, although unlikely, the top 70 could be separated by 6 shots and you could be only 7 behind at the 36 hole mark and still miss the cut? Didnt Paul Lawrie come from 10 back to win with just 1 round to go....thanks to this rule we have no Monty or Tigger for the weekend. :(

Thanks to this rule we have no Monty or Tigger for the weekend. :(

And that's a bad thing? After the way they've both gone on over the past two days i'm glad to see the back of them.

Huh? No problem...but lets say there are 70 guys from -6 to even par...and Harrington finishes +1....almost the 36 hole defecit he made up to win the USPGA...and yet he would miss the cut...dont you think there would be uproar? Under US Open rules the guys on 5 over wouldve made the cut. Seems a little harsh is all.

sorry i just think top 70 getting true is the fair with the score being irrelevant

everyone knows the story going out to play if you play well enough your in play worse than 70+ ties bye bye
