Where to buy a stove?

    Hi Folks,

We're looking to buy an inset stove (we've been looking at the Stovax Riva 40 multi-fuel stove) along with replacing the existing fireplace, mantel and hearth in our sitting room.

I've been to 2 places in Dublin and one in the North. I'd be happy with any of the 3 in terms of quality but the Northern one is working out cheaper. I'd like to get it all in Dublin, help the economy and all that, but I don't want to do it if it's going to cost me a lot more.

Has anyone any recomendations of places around South Dublin that they've used, are happy with and didn't cost an arm and a leg?

I'm going to bring the Northern quote to the 2 places in Dublin I've been and see if they can match it anyway.

    Thanks in advance.

Try Gings in Port Laoise. I bought my stove there and found them very helpful. Less than an hour from Dublin.

    Hi,

Am also looking for an insert stove and maybe a free standing one aswell.

would you sending me by pm the names of the places you were looking, particularly the place in the north as i am near enough the border.
was there much differences in prices between the 3 and also did they provide a fitting service and at what cost was this also?

any help would be much appreciated!

FYI - i visited a place up north in carryduff. have some lovely stuff and very knowledgeable but i thought they were very dear when everything was all included. Might be worth a phonecall if you know exactly what you are looking for. i can send you their name if you like

    Thanks

    Hi there,

Having researched far and wide we ended up buying our freestanding stove from Ecostoves in Dunboyne as well as a pellet heating system. They have worked out very well for us. The heat off the stove (multifuel) is tremendous and the pellet system is a Godsend.

My friend later got an insert stove for her living room from them and it's also been a great addition.

Have to say the service was second to none and they were very reasonable compared to the cowboys we almost dealt with!

I would highly recommend them for quality and value and would definitely get them again. I think they guy is sick of me telling people how great they are

Hope that helps. If you're anywhere near Summerhill (in Meath) you're welcome to pop in for a look.

    Susie

I have just ordered a Riva 40 from Buckely's fireplaces. They have three showrooms: the largest I think in Stillorgan Industrial Park (ph 01 293 6952). I ordered mine from the showroom in Donnycarney as I live north side. The stove, with surround was €3,200 (including fitting). I think the stove was €1,500 and the fire surround brought it up to 3,200.
How much are they up north? Would I have saved a lot by going there?

By the way, if you have installed your Riva 40 - are you happy with it?

    Bella
