I have been listening to The Requiem by John Rutter lately, some beautiful choral passages in this piece, has anybody else out there listened to him before? - reminded me a bit of Faure and Verdi (4 Sacred Pieces).

    Rutter is pretty cool imo.

    More on this later.

Haven't listened to the requiem the whole way through, just heard stuff that he arranged and it was awful, really tacky like.
    I'd take Whitacre

    or
    Paweł Łukaszewski

    instead any day.

Love him, have preformed that Requim, and also Angel's Carol and a number of other pieces by him with my choir. Because of his works we came 1st in the Navan Chroal Festival last year and 3rd this year :)

Rutter has moments of niceness but is overall terrible in my humble opinion. Very uninspired writing mostly—the sort of thing I would write if I didn't have any sense of morality. And it reminds me of eating a sherry trifle stuffed with pink bonbons.

Oh, I think I'm gonna be sick.

That is definitely a composer I could live quite happily without ever hearing again.

Yeah, it's Prelude from Akhnaten by Philip Glass.

    Here's a recording.
