Golf Ruling

    Hope i can explain it clearly and see if you come up with a ruling.

    This has happened to a colleague of mine and he asked me what was the ruling of the incident.

    4 ball team on the tee box (Gold).

    3 players hit their drive down the fairway...last player tees up !

    He swing and his ball hit a "info/marker pole" on the next tee box (silver) and straight out in into the rough. The others gave him a mulligan coz they reckon the "info/marker pole" is a man made item.

    What the ruling here, play as it lies or retake the shot with the penalty?:mad:

    "Info/marker pole" is one of those 2 foot pole that has info ie Hole 1 - Index 5 - Par 4.

    Did this happen in a competitive round? if so then he must play it as it lies, unless there is some weird local rule that allows you to replay the shot( but I doubt very much).
    If it was a friendly 4ball/game then ye can do what ye like.

    Electricity wires are the only thing I have seen where your shot gets cancelled. Usually it's written on the card that you must cancel the stroke and replay the shot without penalty.
