    suprise surprise................
    Monty in his interview after play today suggested that Sandy Lyle would not be one of his assistant captain for next's year Ryder Cup!

    lyle must feel like some plonker !!

    Well what he actually sais was that it was humourous for Lyle to say he hoped what he said wouldn't jeapordise his chances for a vice captain spot.

    Which is pretty dim, why would Monty pick him to rely on and trust?

    The situation is hilarious and a little sad too. I think the media took advantage of Lyle not once but twice. It's obvious he was upset at being overlooked for the RC captaincy and then seemingly snubbed by Monty once he(Monty) got the nod. I don't think either have come out of this very well. Lyle probably did deserve a crack at it when played in four matches and won 2 majors. That's a lot more than Gallacher, James and Torrance have done.
