    Hi everybody,

Just wondering where you'd get mens engagement rings here. I based near Dublin so somewhere close would be great, but any suggestion is welcome.

Do men wear engagement rings these days?

I'm old fashioned about such things. I wouldn't really want to do it any other way.

Are you sure you're not talking about a wedding ring?

No, definitely engagement ring. That would be part one of this two part master plan.

Oh right, I've never heard of men wearing an engagement ring. How does that work - do you wear both of them when you're married?

Anyway, we went to Michael Perry in the Powerscourt Shopping centre for the wedding rings, and we were really happy with his service. He made my wife's ring from scratch to match her engagement ring and he a had a good selection of men's rings.

Hi, you could try Barry Doyle in George's Street Arcade - he could make you a ring from scratch, so you could have exactly what you wanted, be it a band, something with a stone (I don't necessarily mean a diamond - he can do lots of different kinds...I have an amethyst), plain or patterned, shiny or matt, different kinds of metal. He's also pretty reasonable, cost-wise. If you're having trouble finding something in a traditional jewellers, it may be a good option for you.

Few of my fiancee's friend have got engagement rings- my OH doesn't wear jewellery at all & is struggling at thought of wedding ring!! :D so I'm going to buy him a camera lense (total photo junkie!) as its somethin he really wants! Think its great idea- why should woman be only one to get lovely gift!!

Great designer in Kilkenny called Carl Parker- he's on net- designs all manner of jewellery from scratch and styles are very masculine! Might be bit far for you though.

Are men's engagement rings not something dreamt up by jewellery stores to make more sales?

Yeah it definitely sounds new fashioned rather than old fashioned, but I think it's a lovely idea! Not a chance in hell I'd be able to get my man to wear one though.

Where is he supposed to wear it  Same finger as the wedding band? Awful stuff! The rings on that site are just like wedding rings anyway...double the money for the same thing!!
