Sales/Marketing Partnership with IT

    hi guys,

I have a problem that possibly a number of similiar minded people also have in this current climate. While we are all off trying to set up our business etc. as one man/woman bands it is most likely that we have great experience in one skill but not the others that it takes to succeed as a standalone business. I'm sure there's websites there to match people like this up, but if not - theres an idea for someone ;)

Anyway, I'm in the situation that with my IT background I have built a website that I think may fill a niche in the current market and has a USP. (friends etc. think so as well but I know to take that with a pinch of salt!). Now my skill is IT and not selling or marketing and while I tried to take on that role I now realise that its not for me. One option is to let the idea go and someone else may do it down the line or the alternative is to partner up with someone with the skillset who can make this work. As I cant afford to pay someone I've decided to offer someone with the right skills a chance to own 50% of the site to come on board.

Theres no guarantee that this venture will work, but it has to be worth a shot. I see this as a symbiotic realtionship where someone with sales/marketing experience and drive can take a product at no cost/risk and see if they can sell it to customers/consumers, whereas someone with IT skills gets someone to sell something they have sold and if successful each benefits from the skillset they put in.

I'm wondering if any potential entrepreneurs out there are interested in something like this or if anyone has any advise or thoughts on this. There will be a legal contract of course and the deal is that the person coming on board takes 50% of all sales for the first six months after which both parties review and based on performance only then can that person come on board as a full 50% partner.

interested in your thoughts and if anyone thinks they would be interested in something like this, PM me and I can share the full details with you!

I think you should mention some more info about the idea, obviously without giving away the USP. Is it a Product, Service, Free content, Subscription, software etc.

    yep, fair point.

Its an online service to business and consumers in an already crowded market and not a product, but as I say it does have a slightly different slant on it that makes it a bit different. It would involve some marketing strategy to get the site known and would certainly involve either some cold calling but if someone had the right business connections it may be easier. The role mainly involves getting consumers and businesses to use the site as a service (if you know what I mean).

It would be a challenge for someone but like I said before its pretty much zero risk, I'm not asking anyone to put in advertising 'dollars' or anything, the right person will know once they see the proposal if its for them or not and I won't take offence either way! I will send anyone the full details just as long as they keep it out of the public domain if its not their kettle of fish!
