Most fights happen on a friday or saturday night. Most blogs and sites have their articles posted on a thursday or friday about who they feel will win and why.

I propose you post "your" prediction no later than tuesday.

How do you feel about that? I know you won't have certain information which might be a problem.

In principle its cool but sometimes the comp is not even put up till the tuesday!

the other way of looking at it would be, if someone needs to rely on blogs then i doubt they'll win it anyway!

that's a bit unfair because some people might be away from a computer for a few days for one reason or another.

We all know 90% of fights are happening 8-12+ weeks ahead of time. So we have 8 weeks to post a comp and 8 weeks to say who's going to win.I know the thread might going down the pages but thats a small thing. I feel Nobody puts any thought into the actual 2 fighters and thus merely copies a few sites opinions.

Well I for one never pay any attention to any blogs or opinions voiced by 'experts' before a fight and I don't like having to choose till a couple of days beforehand. So I prefer the current system.

Why do you feel that the bit I highlighted in bold is happening ?

Individualism is something I don't see in the comp. Everyone has the same opinion of who's going to win, it's ridiculous. How can everyone analyse two fighters and all draw the same conclusion as to who will win? Are we that good at judging a boxer?

the well-known fights, yes, but some fights can be posted with a only week's notice. if someone leading the comp or close to the top happened to be away, or were without access to a computer for a few days, who doesn't use blogs and are not influenced by the predictions of other posters, it's unfair if they lose their lead because they were unable to make the time limit deadline.

it maybe that for the lesser-known fights some posters are swayed by blogs or perhaps by what one or two people on here say. Either way a time limit won't really work and is unfair.

Well , It sometimes ends up with everybody backing the same selection . And its easy to see why :

    (a) usually a clear favourite is established , and the reward for backing that selection is equal to the reward for backing the underdog.
    e.g: Khan win = 20 points , Kotelnik win = 20 points
Khan is 1/3 established favourite , so even if u fancy Kotelink to cause the upset It may not be worthwhile choosing him in your selection !

    (b) Big-Ears and F1Dan are a bit ahead now , and u got to pick something different to them if you want any chance of catching them .
Should u chose the same selection then u cant gain ground !

the only way around that I guess would be to reward the underdog with higher points.

    e.g. : Mayweather vs Marquez
    (1)Mayweather on points = 10 points
    (2)Mayweather by ko/tko = 20 points
    (3)Marquez win on points = 40 points
    (4)Marquez wins K.O/TKO = 50 points
    (5) Draw = 100 points

you wouldn't have everybody going for the likely "PBF on points" if the reward was less apealing ....

However, big-ears an f1Dan have earned a right to their position on the standings so it mightnt be fair to change at this stage of the season.

Also dont want to sound critical of Cowzerp's charity comp , as he's doing a fine job of it and his work is enjoyed n' appreciated :)

I do like to see the weigh-in sometimes before I'll pick !
and often forget to put my selection up until the day of the fight .
