    Hi

Does anyone know if there is a database of businesses in Ireland? I am only interested in contacting via email. I find it annoying when people call me so I wouldnt do it to them.

If I have to pay, does anyone know how much it would roughly cost?

    Thanks,

try kompass www.kompass.ie as a good start. Experian www.experian.ie they may provide something as well
There are list brokers like Moss (search List Brokers)
Not really sure how they fare in terms of email addresses, physical addresses no probs.

be careful with sending what could be perceived as spam people are adverse to being randomly emailed.

Maybe call them and ask for an email address that would be a suitable contact for you.

a lot of business tend not to use business who send unsolicited email as a matter of principal

if the IP your sending mails from gets triggered as a spammer your IP could be black listed and you'll have problems trying to get legitimate mail through to your clients etc

Good point and something you can't legislate for.

Please don't do that HoneyMonster, it's spam ! I absolutely hate it when I get mails from businesses I never registered directly with. It's fine if I registered interest etc but if I didn't and they just "thought" I'd like to know, it's infuriating, unprofessional and smacks of desperation. I'm not saying it may not work though, I'm unsure if other people have the same stance as myself.

Although it still is unsolicited regardless of how good the product/service you are offering is. This is not the way to promote a service in my opinion - it's intrusive and an old fashioned way of getting through to your consumer.

I'd try and make a point of contact with someone in said company first - pitch your service, explain the differences between you and your competitors and ask them if they would like to receive more information.

Absolutely agree with Entrepreneur. Email is such a personal way of contacting someone (they can choose whether or not to take your call but cant choose whether or accept your mail as in most cases its just delivered) that unsolicited mail just p1sses most people off. bit like trying to kiss a girl on a first date before telling her your name (not that I;ve dont that of course! :D)

I agree with the suggestion of Entrepreneur - Call-Mail-Call. get some rapport going on the phone first and identify a need. Then, if they want to be emailled with more details it becomes solicited mail and will relaise a far higher conversion rate for you.

I never thought about it like that. And thanks for the advice. I find it more annoying to get a phone call than an email as I dont get disturbed. But I see your point. I wanted the emails for market research.
