Recycling/Disposing of power cables

Hi folks, Apologies if already discussed before but I'm doing an extensive cleaning of the house and am finding old unused cables everywhere. I have a bad habit of putting them aside or keeping them "just in case" Anyway, I have a load of mobile phone chargers, mains 220v power cords, network cables, NTL cables etc and…

Hi folks,
Apologies if already discussed before but I'm doing an extensive cleaning of the house and am finding old unused cables everywhere. I have a bad habit of putting them aside or keeping them "just in case"
Anyway, I have a load of mobile phone chargers, mains 220v power cords, network cables, NTL cables etc and don't know where to dispose of them. Would a local electrical shop take them or would I have to pay a fee?

Your council probably has a centre to take electrical goods.

Alternatively, for the basic stuff (I'd be awfully wary of taking a second hand toaster or microwave off someone) http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=346
