Looking for part time temp work without using an agency

    Hi

After reading through some of the posts here regarding agencies I have come to the conclusion that employers don't want to waste the money on them now. A friend of mine does temp work and has some regular companies that she works for and said they are now ringing her direct and cutting out the agency.

I am looking for temporary part time secretarial work in and around Cork, ideally 2 or 3 days a week and I am wondering where to start with applying to companies directly. Would I be wasting my time? Are they receiving so many cv's now that they're not even being read. I am currently working from home and haven't worked (and got paid for it, I do volunteer somewhere) in an office for about 4 years so I feel a bit out of the loop.

Does anyone know of any companies in Cork that use temps from time to time that I could send my cv to?

    Thanks for your help

Temping agencies will always be used for temp work, so don't dismiss them. (Temping agencies work slightly differently than traditional recruitment agencies - for starters, they're no where near as expensive.)

Thanks AARRRGH. I will go ahead and register with the temping agencies here in Cork. Thanks for the link also.
