I have a Dell 4550, P4. I have 2 HD's in it and I took one out because it would'nt boot properly kept getting HD0 error. I took out the bad HD and tried to reinstall XP on the other one but it gets to a certain point snd reboots and thrn says F1 to Enter or F2 for setup. Would the other drive be bad?

Is it possible that the old hdd is IDE and the new one is SATA? Go into the BIOS and try changing the SATA mode to compatability, or legacy, or whatever it's called on the DELL.

    No both are IDE.

Then I would boot from a cd that contains a hard drive test and a memory test, to check your hardware. I think this has both, if you can create the cd on another pc.
