Great to see ESPN opened.Love baseball. Now tell me is this the explanation to the letter received from sky telling me my subcription is going up nearly €5 euro a month. Someone forgot to tell me the recession was over.

If you mean the Irish rights to the premiership then no but if you mean the Irish rights to the SPL then yes :)

Ironically, part of ESPN is still in Setantas offices in Dublin and they still handle some of ESPN's transmissions.

While ESPN want to get into the European sports I wonder how they'll get on. They will still have the challenge of building up the subscriber base as Setanta did and most of their existing subscribers are likely to be people with little interest in european sports especially soccer. Then again, they have the cash!

Sky and Espn have got the same rights here as they have in UK. Setanta have Saturday 3pm games here which isn't allowed in UK due to blackout deals.

So will there be any 3pm Saturday kick off games aired on any television channel this year in the EPL, in the UK or Ireland? If so, thats crazy isn't it?
