I missed my interview for my dole claim. I was in touch with office and explained why, I had not received the letter. The said my case was closed and it will have to be reopened. Has this happened to anyone and will it take the same amount of time again(I waited 4 months)

    Thanks

Why didn't you receive the letter?

I didnt receive because it came and was mixed with family post, by the time I opened it, the date had passed. I wrote a letter to the Officer explaining this

As they said you have to make a repeat claim. You will have to go in and go to the fresh claims area. They will schedule a new interview for you. When making your claim you can put in writing why you missed your interview and a deciding officer will decide if you can have your claim backdated or not. While you are waiting for your JA to come through you can contact your CWO re: Supplementary Welfare Allowance.

Thank you. Do you know how long it will take for the rescheduled interview? (ie will it take as long as the first one, which was 9 weeks!!)

It may well do, because it will be a new claim.

Might be an idea to ask your local TD to help you though.

To be perfectly honest- the civil servants in the local offices take an incredibly dim view of TDs making representations on behalf of constituents. Its as likely to put you to the back of the pile, as it is to do you any good.

The Standards in Public Office Commission has specifically addressed this on two occasions in the past.

Never done it myself, but have heard it can help.

Although in fairness, you should be watching the mail more closely, but I understand that in a family/shared house situation somebody takes all the mail somewhere and doesn't tell you that you got a letter...
