    Hi There
Am looking to purchase an electronic item from the US.
(it will be sent via USPS)

Am I right in estimating the duty and taxes will be as follows?:

Cost of Item: $345 plus Delivery of $89 (Total: $434)

So it will be 2.7% on the $345 = 9.32
    Then the 21% on the total (9.32 + 345=354.32) will be $74.41

So I would pay in TOTAL after taxes&duty added = $508.41

    Help much appreciated?
    Thanks

I don't have an answer for your question, but check if the sender can use usps's Flat Rate Box - a medium is $40, a large is $52

Forgot the 5 (or is it 10?) EUR handling fee but yea, over all the ballpark figures looks about right (the exchange rate used will vary etc.).

I have another question on a similar topic.

Im trying to purchase another item of similar size from a person on ebay, but they are quoting 400-500 dollars to ship as this was the quote they received from their local shipping company.

Basically they allow collection if I can find a shipping company/service to collect the item and ship it to Ireland.

Anyone know of any company that is easily contactable to arrange something like that?
The seller is based in Michigan, United States if that helps?

Anyone do anything like this before?

Any of the big should do pick up (i.e. DHL etc.).

No idea on the actual duty rate Op but you will be charged a standard processing fee. This will be added to the items value and the shipping cost. Duty will then be charged at the applicable rate on all of the above add this to on to the value to give you a Vat ratable value. Vat charged at 21.5 on the grand total of item, shipping, processing fee and duty.

    Thanks Lads,

Anyone know how long an item can be in customs?

My item arrive yesterday at 4pm, could I expect 2 days to process?

Depends on the courier as they are handling the paper work etc. but from my limited experience 2 days sounds reasonble yes.
