All you can eat etiquette

My local diner, Al's, is doing an "all you can eat" breakfast for 7.95.

I popped down this morning and ate two huge plates.
However everyone else their seemed to be eating just one course and fúcking off.

I wanted a 3rd helping but couldn't bring myself to go up and ask for more.

    Why is this I wonder?
Should you have no qualms about "doing the dog" at one of these things?

All you can eat is all you can eat. Fu*k them if they don't like it.

Maybe the others did eat all they could?

They're there for you to eat all you want, seriously.

I was at a chinese buffet, left to go to the loo; came back and the waiter bloke was nicking my pancake. I said "No, I haven't finished that yet!" he looked at me like I was a fcukin moron and said "Well It's gone; go and get another one"

    :(

Theres Chinese a place beside the International pub in Dublin that does an all you can eat. Except they don't want you to

Each course is tiny and they give you filthy looks when you keep going up.

Great deal by the way. This is Al's diner in Kilcoolishal, Glanmire if anyone lives nearby.

    Tea/Coffee and toast included too.
Chose from Bacon, sausage, tomato, shrooms, black and white pud, beans, and potato croquettes, or just go for eveything like me.

(I have no afilliation with this crowd by the way:) )

Only chinese in Cork that did a buffet went belly up.

I knew two guys in particualar that went in there and did the absolute dog.
One of them is a body builder. He didn't get rice just loads of meat for the protein. He literally put the place out of business single handedly.

I don't live nearby, but I'd go there if I did.
There's enough calories in 2 courses to get you through a days work.

Great deal. But why would you get sucked in by the toast thats just the trick they use to fill you up. Like the sandwiches that come out at weddings before the cocktail sausages and chicken goujons.

You should post it in "Bargain Alerts".

Pity Glanmire is so far away...

I'd put it in Bargain alerts but it's even remote for Glanmire.

The only people that really go in there are truckers on route to Rosslare.

Years ago a mate and myself were at an all you can eat lunch buffet at Pizza Hut on Suffolk Street where, as we were leaving, the people at the table behind us were asked to pay extra as they had wolfed down more than expected.

Dunno what the outcome was. Plenty of schoolboy errors from people though filling up on breadrolls and salad while waiting for the pizzas to be dished out.

i went to a thai all you can eat buffet off tottenham court road london, had 7 dinner plates and some fruit. the asians in front of me had 1 plate each. i think i bought 3 cold drinks as well(rookie mistake), 1.50 sterling each.

it was great, food was really nice. only problem is i ended up with a downstairs blockage for over 3 days.

theres a place near abbey street in town and i went there a few months back, food wasnt bad, think it was 8euro. only had 3 plates as i didnt want to be banned. i have a friend in america whos a competitive eater. if you go to a place too much they wont let you in anymore.

im not sure how it works in ireland. 'management have the right to refuse' can prob be used but they cant stop u in the middle of a meal(binge)

on any medium/big budget movie theres usually all you can eat food on set, tho you dont wanna get too full that you cant move.

Those "all you can eat" deals work because only a small percentage of customers go back for more.

You Jaytee.. you, can be that small percentage!!

    Etiquette?

You're in an all-you-can-eat buffet fatty.
Stick your head back into the trough and hoover up all you can.

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,676 ✭✭✭jayteecork

Ok it was my first time availing fo this deal so I'll be back again, gradually increasing my portion.

That way they won't notice that I'm actually ordering slightly more each time and won't think I'm a gluttonous pig

The key to making them work is to go in reasonably hungry and fill yourself up nicely. If you keep stuffing yourself until you can't eat any more you'll just make yourself sick and constipated. The best I've been in is in Birmingham:

Dont these places give you smaller plates / servings anyway?

    1 plate / serving = Not Enough

    2 plate / servings = normal serving

3 plate / servings = This is only where you start having more than normal.

No guilt should set in before going for the fourth maybe more.
Were in a recession, fatten up people, will be a cold winter!

Do an Alan Partridge on it and bring in your own extra large plate :)
