Does anyone have any info on MG TC's?
I am mainly looking for a buyers guide, or what to look out for on one for sale, what goes wrong etc?
A friend of mine is going to look at one and he is struggling to find much info

It turns out the car is not a TC but is a YA instead.
    Anybody ever come across one?

I don't think that I've ever seen one here but I'm not really interested in cars of that era so it wouldn't have caught my eye anyway. You could try contacting the MG Owners club in the UK who may be able to provide you with a buyers guide etc:

    Hey Dave,
how did your mate get on? A TC is a 2 seater post war sports car, whereas a YA is a 4 door sports saloon from the same era. Both are powered by the same engine, a 1250cc XPAG and both have separate chassis. I have recently been offered a fully rebuilt Y type chassis with engine/box etc all re-fitted for stg3k

You could try the Irish MG owners club - there's a contact page on

It was a YA saloon alright, but he didn't go for it as it was in poor condition
