I lodged my claim for JSA today. Will I need to sign on every so often while I wait for my claim to be processed? I'm in blanch, so it's likely to be 10 weeks or so.

You don't actually need to sign on until your claim has been processed.

The system isn't set up for wait times this long, it just assumes you'll be processed in a week or so and you'll start signing on right away.

If you're stuck for money, go to your local community welfare officer and apply for supplementary welfare allowance.

I put in my application for JSA in Blanch on Friday but had to take some docs back in on Tuesday and I have a sign on date set already for September.

No idea what happens now, I've given my bank statement and evidence of looking for work etc.. just wait and see what comes through the mailbox I guess.

Cheers all. Much appreciated. That's a relief.
