Complicated will scenario

Hope someone can help on this.

My grandmother (widowed) died 8 years ago and left a will. The will left her estate to my father. However, he pre-deceased my grandmother a year before her.

We grew up in the family home which is included in the estate. However, the estate was never sorted as my aunts and uncles ( one of which is the executor of the will ) disagree with us being beneficiaries.

Just wondering is there any way we can push the executor to sort out the estate as 8 years have now passed. Also, as the estate was left to my father, does that mean that my mother gets 2/3 and the children get 1/3. Or is it a case of it all being left to the children.

I have read the threads on this and still a little confused. Not sure if it makes a difference but two of my brothers and sisters were in school when our father died and were under 18. Does this mean they get none of it?

Any help greatly appreciated. We sought legal advice last year but not hearing a whole lot back.

If you sought legal advice last year and haven't yet heard, then you need to follow up on that. Get back on to your solicitor and ask for a proper explanation. If you are not satisfied, then go and see different solicitors, and make sure that whoever they are, that they are responsible and competent.

8 years is a long time. Get your solicitor to find out what is going on to progress this for you.

The forum charter doesn't allow us to give legal advice. Take a look at the Succession Act 1965. http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/1965/en/act/pub/0027/index.html though.
